Russian Foreign Ministry has agreed to send back Nepali nationals serving in their Army, according to Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

Earlier Russia had agreed to provide compensation to Nepalis deceased in the war.

Nepal has been following up through various diplomatic channels to release its citizens serving for Russian Army in Russia-Ukraine war. Although the Russian Ministry has agreed in principle to terminate the contracts of Nepali citizens, the modality has yet to be fixed.

The number of Nepali nationals serving in Russian Army remains unknown, atleast 21 Nepalis are reported to have died with as many as 100 injured.
