The Tamakoshi Hydropower company Ltd has awarded the contract for 99.5 MW Tamakoshi V Hydroelectric project to the Chinese company Sino Hydro Corporation Ltd. Sino Hydro will undertake the Civil and Hydromechanical works of the project in a joint venture with Nepali company Kumar Shrestha Nirman Sewa Ltd.

Tamakoshi V is designed as a semi-reservoir cascade project of Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectic Project. Sino Hydro will construct the project under Engeneering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) model. The construction is expected to complete within four years. The cost of the project is estimated at NRP 20 billion.

Sino Hydro previously constructed the civil structure of 456 MW Upper Tamakoshi Project. It is also contracted to build the powerhouse of 140 MW Tanahun Hydroelectric Project.
