The third International Forum on Democracy: The Shared Human Values was held in Beijing on Wednesday. The forum was hosted by Publicity Department of the CPC Centre Committee State, and Council Information Office of the PRC. China Academy of Social Sciences, China Meda Group and China International Communications Group were the organizers of the event.
Approximately 300 participants from across the globe participated in the event, according to Global Times. Participants include the politicians and scholars from Italy, Egypt, Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Kenya, UK and Pakistan and some other countries.
In the opening session, delivering the keynote speech, Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC elaborated how CPC has embarked democracy with Chinese characteristics as a cornerstone of human civilization. He criticized on using democracy as a political tool by certain countries to destabilize countries and exert their hegemony, Global Times reports.
The event was hosted in parallel to The Third Summit for Democracy Conference, an initiative of US President Joe Biden, which took place on 18-20 March on Seoul, South Korea.
